Gwen's Not a Match

Sad, but true. Barak and I had Gwen over for a play date with Cyan. Her foster dad, Joe, brought her over on Saturday, Jan 3, in the morning before we left for Israel. Gwen was suggested to us by the rescue because she is a younger female and was very submissive to the dogs she had been staying with. Well, when Gwen came over, she would have none of that from Cyan. Despite 30 minutes of "interaction" Gwen would not accept Cyan as her superior. Joe said several times that in his experience, he thought that it would take a long time, and supervision, to get Cyan and Gwen to bond. It wasn't like they were going at each other's throats, but when Cyan tried to assert her dominance (read: mount her) and snap at her when Gwen took her toys, Gwen fought back. Cyan's tail was wagging the entire time, so we know that she was trying to play, but it just wasn't working for Gwen.

As Gwen and Joe were getting ready to go, Gwen disappeared on her own down the corridor that leads to the bedrooms. She came back after about 30 seconds. About a minute later Joe said that he thought Gwen farted, and apologized. When the smell didn't pass, his eyes widened and he said, umm, I think she pooped somewhere. POOPED! POOPED??? What kind of 3 year old dog still poops in the house??? We did not sign up for a pooper. Barak went to investigate and indeed, Gwen had pooped, . . . in our bedroom . . . on the small rug that Cyan has been sleeping on! Barak said, because I refused to see it, that it was at least 3x the size of a large Cyan poop. WOW! Also not what we signed up for!! So clearly Gwen was not happy, and we are looking forward to continuing our search for another dog to rescue.

HAHAHA! I laughed so hard at the poop! Our little puppy is only 3 months old and hasn't had a single accident in the house, so I definitely agree with your decision. She must've smelled Cyan on the rug and clearly wanted to claim her territory. Good luck on the search for another dog!
